Sooooo, excited to announce a gift certificate special!  Tis the season for giving and since I’m feeling all Christmasy right now I wanted to help out a charity that holds a special place in my heart.  For every gift certificate bought from now until December 10th, $25 will go directly to The Daisy Eye Cancer Fund.

There’s a little angel her on Earth named Lauren Lesage.  Sweetest, kindest, most inspirational little girl I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.  She steals your heart the minute you look into her beautiful eyes and again once she opens her mouth and speaks to you.  She is so full of grace and intelligence.  She is also so much more mature than she should have to be from all she has dealt with in her first few years of life.  Lauren was diagnosed with a form of childhood eye cancer called retinoblastoma at the age of 6 months.  Because it was caught early enough, she is longer at risk of death, thanks to the aggressive treatments she has had.  Lauren and her parents are stilling fighting to keep one of her eyes though.  Lauren is 4 years old.  But her spirit is one of someone much older.  She has been so strong.

The Daisy Eye Cancer Fund is a charity that has helped the Lesages in many ways and they help raise awareness for a little known cancer.  It the charity of their choice for Lauren.  Please help me raise as much money as we can for them.  I will be seeing Lauren in a few weeks and I can’t wait to tell her how much we have raised!  I can already see her precious smile.  Please share this with anyone you think may be interested.  Thank you in advance for your support.  It means the world 🙂

These are one of my favourite types of shoots 🙂  Unfortunately, we had an incident in Canada about a  month ago, where a bride was doing this type of session at a set of waterfalls and got caught up in the current and was wept away because her dress was so heavy.  It brought “trash the dress” sessions to the forefront and most people had never even heard of doing such a thing.  It’s unfortunate that this horrible accident is how people have first learned about these kinds of shoots.  Like any profession, safety should always be first, always.  Whether it’s having a family splashing in the water or standing on a rock wall, handling a newborn and posing them in different positions, or having a bride in a body of water, with a heavy dress on,with or without waterfalls.  It blows my mind that there wasn’t another person with the photographer and bride.  If anything, I have put myself in precarious positions before I would put a bride in one.  Comfort and safety people, comfort and safety.

We went back to the park where we did Jenn and Paul’s engagement session.  It was perfect for many reasons.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend 🙂

This park is hugely popular in our area.  But I seem to never really shoot there!  I’m glad I got the chance to go back and discover a few more areas that I had overlooked before 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!

Rain rain go away, come again….after the ceremony please!!!!  Woke up, pouring rain….ate breakfast, pouring rain, look at the skies, nothing but dark clouds.  Drive to Midland through Monsoon like rain.  Starts just spitting….looking good!  Oh, hey Mr. Sun!  Can you stay for a few hours, ’cause that would be awesome 😉  Ceremony starts, no rain….signing the register, starts getting windy and starts spitting…. yikes.  Big, dark clouds…no no no!  Blows right over….whew!  Perfect 🙂

Naomi used to be my boss 🙂  About 9 years ago, when I was crazy enough to work with little kids everyday and Naomi was crazy enough to hire me.  Now, I’m still with kids everyday….my own….and she was crazy enough to hire me again for her wedding.  At the end of my time at the YMCA, I was starting to realize that photography may be in the cards for me.  I would bring landscape images into work and ask the girls what they thought, I would take pictures of the kids and give them to their parents, in hopes that one day I could make some money doing something like this.  I would read and study everything I could about equipment and composition and colours while I was simultaneously prepping for the pre school program 😉

Then 8 years later, I have the honour of being at Naomi and Brad’s wedding.  Two simple, beautiful, kind souls saying their vows in a casual backyard wedding.  That just happened to be on stunning Georgian Bay!

Thank you Naomi and Brad for trusting me with your day!  I know you will have a long, happy life together ♥

I seriously love these two 😉  sarcastic, funny, not afraid of anything.  I watched them all day and it felt amazing to see how they interacted with each other.  They feed off of each others needs and differences.  They are both extremely loved by their families and each family is genuinely happy about having a new daughter and son in the respective families.  The candids from this wedding are awesome…not to toot my own horn 😉  I look back at the reception photos and laugh and smile and remember how much fun everyone was having!

My wish for Jenn and Paul is, they keep each other laughing and keep everyone else wanting a love like they share 🙂
